Formerly known as Glencoe, the community has existed for over a 100 years, with formal incorporation as North Plains in 1963. Residents enjoy the benefits of well-managed infrastructure of improved streets, parks, and water systems.

North Plains is a hub for many outdoor activities. Bike riders can be seen on the rural roads in and around our community everyday, rain and shine. North Plains Gliderport provides unique glider and sailplane experiences for flight over the Willamatte Valley. Pumpkin Ridge Golf features two 18-hole golf courses designed by Bob Cupp and are considered among the best anywhere. The courses have hosted events with more than 100,000 spectators for the USGA, LGPA and US Ametuer Championships. The Mountaindale Resort caters to those who want to bare it all at its 104 acre facility. Hornings Hideout is a nationally known venue for events like the Warrior Dash and String Cheese Incident. Lakeview Farms is a well-loved pumpkin patch, where thousands of children enjoy a corn maze, and train and boat rides.
